Kate Kim MA LAPC

I am Kate Kim and I have been working with TRI for a year now.

I live with my husband of two years in Suwanee, Georgia. My husband has two kids from a previous marriage who stay with us every other weekend and more throughout the summer and holidays. We are also expecting a baby in September.

I worked in ministry in various contexts for ten years before transitioning to clinical counseling. I recognize the importance of emotional health and wellbeing for ministry staff and I have a unique heart and understanding of it. I love being able to connect with churches and organizations around the country, not just locally.

I graduated from Richmont University and have the following certifications: Marriage and Family Therapy Certification; Prepare/Enrich; Gottman Level 1; Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples Externship. My focus is mainly on marriage counseling, parenting teens, addiction, family of origin issues, and attachment issues. I especially enjoy working with women struggling in their marriages, women struggling to find worth in work, married couples struggling to communicate and connect, men and women with substance use issues, and young women navigating their callings.

I am licensed in Georgia and have a private practice called Path to Change in Cumming and Alpharetta.

Some of my hobbies include cooking, traveling, reading, going to art museums, going to the movies and doing yoga. I feel most alive when I am traveling to new places, am in or near water, and get out of a really productive counseling session. If I could travel anywhere it would be to Greece and Italy. My favorite movies are the Lion King and Little Women.

I've been a part of a PCA church since college with a short stint at an EPC church. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church. However, I hold loosely to my denomination and am most committed to the beliefs stated in the Apostle's Creed.
